Overview

This course equips learners with the knowledge of epilepsy, including the understanding of what it is, and how to care for people with it.

Please note: we do not usually run this course at our centre, and is more suitable for groups offsite. If you are interested, please get in touch.

Course Contents

• What is epilepsy?
• The effects epilepsy has on the body
• Awareness of different types of seizures
• How to support a person during a epileptic seizure
• Awareness of epileptic medication
• Understanding Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS) therapy
• Other treatments available e.g. surgery, ketogenic diet
• How to recognise an epileptic emergency and how to deal with it appropriately including when to call the emergency services
