Overview

This is an extensive subject and we have lot of options available for learning.

Our Dementia awareness course is designed to equip learners with the knowledge to understand and demonstrate awareness of Dementia and associated conditions.

Learners can progress to Level 3 by obtaining the following units:

Understand the Process and Experience of Dementia

• QCF Level 3 Unit - Understand and Meet the Nutritional Requirements of Individuals with Dementia 
• QCF Level 3 Unit - Administration of Medication to Individuals with Dementia Using a Person Centred Approach

There are many more units to choose from in this category dependant on requirements and levels of interest.

Due to this certification being part of the Awarding Body, TQUK, certificates are unable to be downloaded from our website. Please get in touch if you have not received your certificate 4 weeks since your final assessment has been completed.

Course Contents

• Recognise the Signs and symptoms of dementia
• Anatomy of the brain and the effects of the condition
• Diagnosis & Treatments available
• Caring for the service user with dementia and understanding reasons for their behaviour such as pain , boredom etc
• Ensure when dealing with personal hygiene you are sensitive and ensure their dignity
• Encourage independence & supporting positive risk taking
• Ensure service users safety and dealing with challenging incidents
• Understanding and respecting the person with dementia
