Overview

The virtual Dementia Awareness training is a skills-based course suitable for anyone who would like to improve their knowledge and understanding of dementia.  The course will use approved techniques and equipment with the opportunity for learners to answer questions.

Course Contents

• Recognise the Signs and symptoms of dementia
• Anatomy of the brain and the effects of the condition
• Diagnosis & Treatments available
• Caring for the service user with dementia and understanding reasons for their behaviour such as pain , boredom etc
• Ensure when dealing with personal hygiene you are sensitive and ensure their dignity
• Encourage independence & supporting positive risk taking
• Ensure service users safety and dealing with challenging incidents
• Understanding and respecting the person with dementia
