Overview

The virtual moving and handling course will use approved techniques and equipment with the opportunity for learners to answer questions.

A competency assessment will be given to employers for them to assess the practical competency within the workplace.

Practical Competency can be delivered at a later date either at the training centre or within the workplace following Government advice on Social Distancing

Course Contents

• Be aware of current legislation (including Human Rights Act) relating to manual handling and lifting equipment
• Understand the nature and causes of manual handling related injuries
• Appreciate the measures which can help to prevent injury
• Understand the process of risk assessment and principles of safe manual handling
• Develop practical skills in safe manual handling of people in the following situations: Sitting, Standing and Walking, Bed Mobility, Lateral Transfers, Hoisting and Slinging
