This Mental Health Awareness Week, #BeBodyKind.

It’s Mental Health Awareness Week (13th – 19th May 2019), an annual event hosted by the Mental Health Foundation. Whilst it promotes general Mental Health Awareness, and encourages people to help and support those with Mental Health needs, there is also a focused theme each year.

This year, the theme is Body Image.

Whilst issues with our body image are common, and not counted as a mental health problem itself, it can factor into many mental health problems. Issues like anxiety, depression and eating disorders can all stem from, or include, serious body image concerns.

JD Training Solutions is aiming everyday to improve our knowledge on mental health, and therefore teach our staff, and those we work closely with, better techniques to help. We aim to create a safe space for those who are affected with mental health issues, and to help them in the most appropriate way possible.

We are putting on more dates for our Mental Health First Aid courses, as well as offering advice and information regarding leading a healthy lifestyle without sacrificing your own mental health well being. This is due to research, that found; “that higher body dissatisfaction is associated with a poorer quality of life, psychological distress and the risk of unhealthy eating behaviours and eating disorders.” – Mental Health Foundation.
