3 Day Health & Social Care Taster Course

JD Training is proud to announce a new course that we’re running in partnership with Skills For Care, Middlesbrough Community Learning and Jobcentre Plus – the 3 Day Health & Social Care Taster Course.

The course is designed to provide you with important insight into the role of a Health & Social Care Worker, it is a gateway into the career that could supply you with invaluable knowledge and perception. A job that can see you working in a range of locations with all different types of service users, we will provide you with an overview of what the job entails, the skills needed and if it is the right career path for you.

Working in social care is about providing personal and practical support to help people live their lives as independently as possible. There are lots of different roles in social care depending on what you want to do, who you want to work with and where you’d like to work. You could be supporting someone with a physical disability, autism, dementia, or a metal health condition. You could be working in a care home, out in your local community, in a hospital or from someone’s home.

You are more likely to choose a particular career in care to suit to your interests and abilities as well as being able to highlight your attendance in your personal statement for job applications. Or you gain an insight that lets you decide a career in care is not for you – it is an opportunity to get a real understanding of the work of a Health & Social Care Worker.

On the course you will learn: what the role of a carer is and what makes good care; communication and safeguarding; overview of the needs of those with physical disabilities, dementia, learning disabilities and mental health; what is personal care and an introduction to personal care tasks including catheter & stoma care infection control and medication awareness.
